Theatre is an industry of variety and connection.

 

Every night it brings a fresh audience into the world of a play, where our work onstage turns grand concepts into discernible and understandable feelings, allowing us to build empathy and connection.

 

The set is the backdrop on which all this builds. There is joy in watching the actors and the audience connect in a world that I built from the ground up, and there is pride in transforming a designer’s imagination into reality.

 

Each production brings unique challenges and the opportunity to learn and to adapt previous experiences to new creations. Each set provides a space to apply old techniques in original situations and to find novel approaches for turning ideas into something tangible and significant. Each show marries technical precision with organic and artistic creation.

 

That is why I build sets.
